CID Lines Symposium

Biosecurity in animal production extends well beyond the farm gate. Transport plays a critical role in both the spread and prevention of disease, yet it is often underestimated.
This satellite event will focus on:
• The economic impact in the poultry and swine industry of animal transport biosecurity management gaps.
• Industry‑standard transport hygiene protocols, solutions, alongside recommended best practices and monitoring
• Animal diseases transmission risks - such as Avian Influenza and African Swine Fever - associated to animal transport
Through a technical and science‑oriented approach, the session will share insights and best practices to strengthen biosecurity across the production chain.

He-farm consortium symposium

Transport of microorganisms is necesary for the transmission and spreading of diseases.  For three years the team of researchers, engineers, veterinaries and farmers of HEFARM project has explored how microorganisms travel and has developed technologies to reveal and prevent them. Particularly, aerosols have been demonstrated to be used by Avian Influenza,  PRRS and other microorganisms to disseminate at long distances.
Moreover, a huge number of microorganisms have been demonstrated to travel air-borne -including many that were not supposed to. In this symposium we will present the main results relevant for biosecurity in the Farm to Fork sector, as well as the technologies and methodologies that have proved to be effective against their propagation including detection and disinfection technologies useful for buildings, vehicles, and personnel. .
